These warm and vibrant performances by two distinguished Swedish musicians include a rare performance of an arrangement of the 1st Violin Sonata by a contemporary of Brahms, Paul Klengel. This arrangement was rediscovered in Vienna in 1974 and the great cellist Janos Starker was so taken with it that he immediately added it to his repertoire. He said that ‘It is the most glorious Brahms and it has been the dream of all cellists some day to be able to play it’.

We now have a chance to judge just how well this lyrical work sounds on the cello.
