For her first solo recording (and the 1st disc as part of a multi-disc contract with Altara) she has chosen three works for unaccompanied violin by composers who represent landmarks in her own musical journey: Johann Sebastian Bach’s Partita for Solo Violin in D minor – maybe the most famous solo violin work ever written– as well as two important works from the 20th century, Béla Bartók’s Sonata for Solo Violin and Karl Amadeus Hartmann’s Suite no.1 for Solo Violin.

Each one contains a ‘chaconne’ movement. Originally a dance, it had already taken on a lamenting character in Bach’s time. Both Bartók’s and Hartmann’s “Chaconne” were clearly modelled on Bach’s famous work.

This vivid and powerful disc is a fine calling card for one of the most interesting and dynamic of today’s young violinists.
