Peter Jablonski performs

Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition &

Liszt: Works including Ballade No.2 & Hungarian Rhapsody No.11

'His new recording "Pictures of an Exhibition" by Modest Mussorgsky is highly commendable and enjoyable'

'The percussive and rhythmic precision and articulation makes this recording stand out, which by no means only portrays the harsh and brutal elements: The children's talk, following the play in the "Tulleries", is interpreted with great tenderness and precision'

As for the Liszt pieces on this CD, the Ballade, or the adaptation of "Isolde's Death" from Wagner's "Tristan and Isolde", these benefit from somewhat different expressive interpretation. This music wins its measure, its finality and its beauty'.

Peter Jablonski's recording for Altara couples one of the greatest, and best-loved, showpieces of the solo piano repertoire - Pictures at an Exhibition - with music by, arguably, the finest virtuoso of the keyboard in the 19th century, Franz Liszt.

Peter's performance of Pictures brings these pieces vividly to life and is coupled with a selection of music by Liszt. Peter displays the variety and inspiration of these works, from the power of the 2nd Ballade to the passion of Liszt's transcription of Isolde's Liebestod from Wagner's opera Tristan und Isolde. He then finishes with the delicate En reve.
