Steffan Scheja

Born in Stockholm, Staffan studied at the Stockholm Conservatory under Gunnar Hallhagen and at the Juilliard School, New York with Ilona Kabos and Ania Dorfman.  His debut at the age of fourteen years was with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Herbert Blomstedt. 

After his American debut in New York in 1972, Staffan has played all over the world with important orchestras, such as the Philharmonia Hungarica, the Munich Philharmonic, the English Chamber Orchestra, as well as with the great Scandinavian orchestras. 

Staffan is a much respected accompanist working with Hakan Hagegard and Barbara Hendricks amongst other singers and violinist Young Uck Kim. Staffan is director of a festival of music on the island of Gotland, in the Baltic Sea each summer.
