Andrew Kennedy

 

Andrew Kennedy studied at King's College, Cambridge and the Royal College of Music in London. He was a member of the Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden and has won numerous prizes and awards including the 2005 BBC Singer of the World Rosenblatt Recital Prize. He was also a member of Radio 3's New Generation Artists Scheme. Andrew is a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award winner and won the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artists' Award in 2006.

 

He has performed Tamino The Magic Flute, ENO, Flute A Midsummer Night's Dream, Royal Opera House, Jaquino Fidelio, Glyndebourne Festival, Ferrando Cosi fan tutte, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Nemorino L'elisir d'amore, Opera North and Tom Rakewell The Rake's Progress, La Monnaie and Opéra de Lyon.

 

Concert engagements include numerous performances with the LSO and Sir Colin Davis, Mozart Requiem, London Philharmonic Orchestra/Jurowski, Mozart Mass in C Minor, Hallé Orchestra/Elder, Berlioz Grande Messe de Morts, LSO/Tortelier, Oedipus Rex, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the Edinburgh International Festival and Novice Billy Budd, London Symphony Orchestra/Harding as well as many orchestral performances of Britten.

 

Andrew gives numerous recitals around Europe and the UK most recently appearing at the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Concertgebouw, Amsterdam the Cheltenham Festival and the BBC Proms.

 

Andrew's fast growing discography includes Vaughan Williams On Wenlock Edge and Gurney Ludlow and Teme, Strauss Songs with Roger Vignoles and Liszt songs with Iain Burnside.

Recent and future plans include his US debut as Vere Billy Budd, Houston Grand Opera, his role debut singing Tito La Clemenza di Tito, Opera de Lyon, Tom Rakewell at La Scala and concerts with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Sir Roger Nottington, BBC Philharmonic and Gianandrea Noseda, the Philharmonia Orchestra and Esa Pekka Salonen, the Boston Handel and Haydn Society (also with Norrington) and the RLPO and Vladimir Ashkenazy.
